I noticed....
...only about 35 people attended on Wednesday, whereas previous events this year drew more than twice that amount. I suspect the drop-off in attendance is due to 
(1) higher pricing -- collecting $25 from non-members is quite a boost... 
(2) the announced plan to have a 45-minute presentation from EC tourist officials, which reduces schmoozing and intermingling, and possibly 
(3) previous comments by one of Ambassadors discouraging male/female mingling.

Located 20 minutes from the historic center of Quito, first declared World Heritage by UNESCO, is the Guápulo Park with about 20 hectares in which a large number of native species in the area are, along with large trees araucaria, cypress, eucalyptus and palms of the Canaries which in turn are home to many families of birds and birds like tanagers, hummingbirds, doves, sparrows, all with spacious lawns and gardens, playgrounds, invite you to visit them by trails designed for it.

Some recommendations to be consider for the Family and Friends Event .
- Bring insect repellent
- Hat, cup or umbrella
- Sunscreen
- Light clothes, but consider how the day dawns to consider umbrella or raincoat

If you come from Quito:

Take the Av. De Los Conquistadores next to the Hotel Quito, and down to Guapulo village. Approximately 1km on the road is the park , the entrance says " Guápulo Park ", lef hand.
If you come from the Valley of Cumbayá take the climb to Guápulo (old road ) and about 1.5 km is the entrance on the right hand.

If you come by bus:
Getting to circle the Coliseum Rumiñahui, walk east - west from the Coliseum to the Floresta . A 500 mts there is the bus stop " La Floresta” Inform the bus driver who want to get off at Park Guápulo.

Once every seven years Halloween falls on a Saturday. This is the year!
